In January of 2006, Damon Ivey and Stella Barret Gildrie committed suicide just three days apart. They left behind a father and a husband, and from these two dear friends, The Damon and Stella Foundation for Mental Health, a non-profit 501(c)3, was created.

Phillip Ivey and Dario Gildrie, founded the organization as an educational tool to raise awareness of the stigma associated with mental illness, and in so doing, remove it. To this end, they are creating public service announcements to enhance the public discussions on depression, bipolar disorder and other mental health issues. Randy Travis and Billy Bob Thornton have already completed two PSA’s and more celebrities continue to join our cause. And we need your help. Public service announcements are expensive to air in our targeted markets and we ask for your financial assistance to make our outreach possible. Full sponsorship and on-going pledges are what we need. In addition to supporting our Awareness Campaign of the Damon and Stella Foundation for Mental Health, your aid will go toward the Care Fund available, a fund created to support those struggling with mental health issues. The Care Fund will give financial backing for treatment to patients who can’t afford it. With over 32,000 suicides completed each year, your financial help to stem this trend is very needed. Too many Americans are affected by mental illness and too little support is given to them. We ask you to thoughtfully consider financially partnering with us as we move toward our goal of reaching everyone with an interest in mental health.
